Fundraising update for Restoration of Lissan House

 While the Friends of Lissan Trust received disappointing news that HLF is unable to fund the Lissan Project, The Trust remains confident of securing over £1.5million in the coming months to commence restoration of the House.  The Trust has received positive news from a number of funders and currently has an application submitted to the Rural Development programme.  Should the funding package be in place in the coming months The Trust are hopeful that restoration work will commence this year.

 The plans for the Lissan estate have not changed and they include the following;

  •  Repair the structure of the House and use it for tours, historical and arts exhibitions and music and cultural evenings,
  • Refurbish the Great Barn and Agents House to form six holiday cottages,
  • Refurbish the Turf House as a cross community meeting and exhibition space,
  • Recreate the walled garden as an organic garden and establish a "farmers market",
  • Engage the Woodland Trust to manage the ancient woodland,
  • Refurbish the Creamery to create a café and shop,
  • Improve access to the Ice House and the Davis Ducart bridges.
